Coalition of Concerned Literacy Educators
We are a group of 200+ literacy educators from all around Australia.
We are all passionate early literacy advocates.
Most of us work as teachers, principals, consultants in schools, or lecturers in teacher education. Many of us are authors of children's books and teacher reference books. Many of us are sought as speakers at state, national and international conferences. Our members include presidents and past-presidents of ALEA (Australian Literacy Educators Association), PETA (Primary English Teaching Association) and AATE (Australian Association for the Teaching of English).
We believe that educators deserve accurate information about literacy standards and literacy teaching and learning.

Victorian teachers: Are you concerned about the English Online testing?

Primary English test 'a waste'
Victorian teachers slammed a new English test undertaken by thousands of primary school children, saying it produced wildly inaccurate results and was a waste of time. Principals have reported Prep students shown as performing at Year 5 level -- "flattering but impossible."
In 2008, I met with a group of people from DEECD and ACER to explain my concerns about the trial version of the English tests. I provided a detailed evaluation of the Prep and Year 1 tests. If you would like copies, please go to the "Contact David" page or email me: david.hornsby@mac.com
