Hi David
We just wanted to give you some feedback from the amazing presentation you gave at our Curriculum Day on 27 May 2008. Here is a selection of the responses on our feedback forms:
• understanding that comprehension is not just a memory test but taught/learned before and during and after reading
• ideas to promote book discussions were great
• everything was great!

• David Hornsby - fantastic strategies - inspiring -
    can't wait to implement this
• David was very thought-provoking.

David, we sincerely appreciated your presentation. Our staff are eager to implement the comprehension activities and strategies that you discussed. The staff came away from the day full of enthusiasm and insight.
     Thanks once again,

Letter from participant at reading seminar - 1 June 2007

Dear David

I write to thank you for conducting today's seminar. The content and your passionate delivery were simply inspiring. And yes, I walked away with the satisfaction of knowing that I had a collection of great ideas to enhance my teaching. I expected nothing less from an educator of your calibre. However, what I did not anticipate was the effect your words would have on me.

David, I was moved to tears on several occassions throughout your presentation today. Several issues you addressed have been topics of conversation between my colleagues and me for a few years now. Participating in these conversations, it is often difficult not to feel utterly overwhelmed.

Yet today you left me with a sense of hope. Only weeks before your presentation I began contemplating a career outside education. Today I left the conference room feeling many things I have not felt in years - proud, supported, inspired, important, professional and sane. No doubt a sharp dose of reality will curb my sense of enthusiasm and Monday afternoon will see me waging those same old battles. I guess the difference is that I will approach these battles with a fire in my belly and greater conviction - two things I thought I had lost long ago.

Thank you again David. Your humour, your candour, your passion and your knowledge .... thank you.

Kindest regards
Rebecca Christo
